So it has been over a couple of years now since I have posted. School became intense and to get through school I was working a full time job to pay for my teaching education. Regardless I am back on the grind. Here is a great project from Mrs. Robert's Art 2 class for high school students: charcoal reduction drawing. This project is great because students become more mindful of the process of creating. Students cover the paper with charcoal and erase the highlights. This is easier said then done since students have to work backwards from light to dark rather then adding shadows they are adding high lights.
Time: 6-8 days (45 min)
Masking tape (optional, to tape down to a board)
18x24" drawing paper
Rubber cement eraser
White charcoal (optional, to add extra high lights)
